Turntables

The Turntables are an obstacle, used as the fifth and final obstacle in the Wipeout Zone of Season 2, replacing the Launch Pads from the previous season. It was interchanged with the Gauntlet throughout the season.

It is three spinning platforms with varying obstacles that contestants must cross. When they stand up with both feet planted on the last turntable or the finish platform, the clock will stop.

Variations have included:

Season 2’s Tackle Dummy Turntables

• Tackle Dummy Turntables (Wipeout Bowl I: Cheerleaders vs. Couch Potatoes): Three turntables with tackle dummies that contestants must cross to reach the finish platform.

Season 2’s Bumper Turntables

• Bumper Turntables (Episodes 2 and 14): Three turntables with pillars that contestants must cross and stand up with both feet planted on the last one to stop the clock.

Season 2’s Wedge Turntables (episode 4)

Season 2’s Wedge Turntables (episode 10)

• Wedge Turntables (Episodes 4 and 10): Three turntables with wedges that contestants must climb up and over or hold onto before they can jump to the next and climb to the top of the last one to stop the clock.

Season 2’s Torrential Turntables

• Torrential Turntables (Episode 5): Three turntables being showered by icy cold water that contestants must cross and stand up with both feet planted on the last one to stop the clock.

Season 2’s Foamy Turntables

• Foamy Turntables (Episode 8): Three turntables filled with foam that contestants must cross to reach the finish platform.

Season 2’s Dodgeball Turntables

• Dodgeball Turntables (Episode 12): Three turntables filled with dodgeballs that contestants must cross while staying below the wrecking balls to reach the finish platform.

Only six contestants cleared this obstacle on their first attempt:

• Monica Kaufmann (Wipeout Bowl I: Cheerleaders vs. Couch Potatoes)
• Scotty Granger (S2E4)
• Caroline Erickson (S2E5)
• Shane Harris (S2E8)
• Brett Salazar (S2E12)
• Travis Cluff (S2E14)

Coincidentally, five of them later won their respective episodes.

This obstacle was also used as the second obstacle in the Gauntlet and the fifth obstacle overall in the Wipeout Zone of the same season, being paired with the Piston Punch and the Drop Bridge, but there was only one spinning platform with varying obstacles that contestants must cross. In episodes 6 and 16, it was replaced by the Blades of Fury.

Variations have included:

Season 2's Foamy Turntable

• Foamy Turntable (Episode 1): A turntable filled with foam that contestants must jump into and out of to the platform.

Season 2’s Bumper Bally Turntable

• Bumper Bally Turntable (Episode 3): A turntable with balls attached to posts that contestants must jump onto and off to the platform.

Season 2’s Gazebo Turntable

• Gazebo Turntable (Episode 7): A turntable with a gazebo that contestants must jump onto and off to the platform.

Season 2’s Wedge Turntable

• Wedge Turntable (Episode 9): A turntable with a wedge that contestants must climb up and over before they can jump to the platform.

Season 2’s Bumper Turntable

• Bumper Turntable (Episodes 11 and 13): A turntable with pillars that contestants must jump onto and off to the platform.

It was replaced by both the Rib Rage and two other configurations of the Gauntlet in Season 3.

Season 3

Season 3’s Turntables in Bruiseball

The Turntables appeared as the second base obstacle in Bruiseball of Season 3, being interchanged with the Slidewalks. This time, there are two spinning platforms that contestants must cross to reach third base.

Season 3’s Turntables in Bruiseball (with pink foam)

In episode 1, the spinning platforms were covered in pink foam.

Season 4

Season 4’s Turntable in Winter Blunder Land

A rectangular turntable appeared as the sixth and final obstacle in Winter Blunder Land of Season 4.

Season 4’s Mood Swing (with turntable)

A similar rectangular turntable also appeared as part of the Mood Swing in the Qualifier during episodes 3 and 6 of Summer Wipeout.
