Piston Punch

The Piston Punch is an obstacle, used as the first obstacle in the Gauntlet and the fourth obstacle overall in the Wipeout Zone of Season 2. It was paired with the either the Turntable or the Blades of Fury and the Drop Bridge throughout the season.

It is three pistons that punch out into the walkway. Contestants must cross the walkway without being punched by the pistons into the water. This is based mostly on quick stepping and timing. In some episodes, the pistons sprayed water at the contestants.

When the Gauntlet was overhauled in Season 3, this obstacle was replaced by both the Spiked Whackers and the Crankshaft.

In Wipeout: The Game, the Piston Punch appeared as the first obstacle in the Gauntlet and the fifth obstacle overall in the Wipeout Zone, being paired with the Blades of Fury, except that the pistons are red instead of gray.
